Weekend Roundup – My favorite holiday blog posts
Here’s a quick recap of a few Christmassy blog posts I read and enjoyed this week.
Recently I confessed my cynicism for the Elf on the Shelf tradition, so I loved reading Divine Secrets of a Domestic Diva’s alternative for her kids – a Troll from the Pole, who is a bit of a naughtier creature than the grinning Elf.
I loved Motherhood WTF’s revamp of the 12 Days of Christmas song. I’d take four Colin Firths over calling birds any day.
Addie Zierman is rapidly becoming my favorite blogger, and I devoured her book “When We Were on Fire” in two days. More on that later. Her recent post, Jesus Comes Anyway, helped me take a breath. Sometimes the countdown to Christmas stresses me out, and not even because I haven’t finished my shopping (I haven’t), but because I’m grasping at each too-short day in December, trying to cultivate the magic of the season. The miracle of Christmas, Addie writes, is that it comes anyway, no matter how much or little we’ve prepared. Christmas does not depend on us.
The Bloggess recapped her best and worst presents ever, with a kind of hilariously sad story of an 89 cent hot pink sweater from K-Mart.
Have a wonderful weekend! I’m headed to a little baby Christmas party tomorrow, and to see a holiday lights display at Gilroy Gardens on Sunday. Tis the Season.
