Scarily veering into the land of Mom Jeans

It took me about seven months to lose my pregnancy weight.

The last time I weighed myself (about a month ago), I was one pound under what I weighed before being pregnant. Wahoo!

So then, answer me this: Why can’t I wear my old jeans?

My theory is my biology is on to me now. Biology is like, ‘yeah, she pushed out one, she’ll push out more. Let’s do ourselves a favor and keep her hips wide and belly stretchy.’

It’s kind of frustrating. I guess I naively thought that if I ate sensibly and stayed active my body would eventually go back to the way it was. Some of my friends’ bodies snaped back like a rubber band. Mine is snapping back like a really cheap Goody hair tie on its last leg. You know how those kind of slowly contract but then just lies there, all limp and stretched out.

Limp and stretched out!

I was wondering where I might purchase a pair of Tina Fey’s “Mom Jeans.” The must-have wardrobe essential for a new stay-at-home-mom.

Here is me with my mom’s group, just relaxing with a pretty cloud back drop.

But seriously, where do child-birthing women buy their jeans? If you say Coldwater Creek, I’ll cry.  But I must face the fact that $10 skinnies from Forever 21 have no place in my life anymore.

Speaking of Mom Jeans though, If you’re looking for post-partum fashion inspiration, check out Ain’t No Mom Jeans. I have found a lot of post-partum fashion tips there. Oh, and they define “post-partum” as anyone who has ever had a baby. Ever. So if it’s been two years since your pregnancy and you are still on the lookout for pooch hiding sweaters, no judgment will be passed on you there.

I am over 7 months since having Olivia and I still am in maternity jeans too :O It’s lame. Still 3 sizes to big if I go by normal jeans. I got ride of a huge bags of clothes myself I will never be able to fit into. Even though I have slimmed down overall, I still have this pooch that I am getting better and better at disguising. Funny the skills you pick up. I feel like my creativity is definitely being challenged every day I get dressed.

Hey Paula! There is something freeing about getting rid of clothes you know you’re never going to wear again. Thanks for sharing. I’m convinced that our pooches are just extra skin. Let me know if you stumble on any good exercise routines. I go on a lot of walks but I want to get better about targeting the pooch situation.

I have been working on a blog about this. Oh man, I feel you sister. I have this muffin top that won’t quit. It drives me crazy and makes me cry a little. Ha!

Isn’t your baby like two months old? Give yourself some grace! Nine months on, nine months off they say.

This is still one of the harder things for me to accept. Stretch marks too… I get bummed about it sometimes, especially when I see other mommies that do bounce right back. I get a brief visit from the green monster. But Olivia doesn’t care how I look, at least not at this age. And its a miracle what our bodies went through, and continue to go through with breastfeeding and everything!!
